Volunteer at the PLA

Point Loma Association is an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid staff members, so whatever we accomplish, the work is done by the members.

Here are some of our current volunteer needs:

The Beautification Committee is looking for volunteers to plant, trim, and generally spruce up our PLA landscape projects. Our "Mean Green Team" works on Fridays, and we also need help with occasional work parties. If you wish to help, call Karen Davis at 222-3055 or Jodie Bruhn at 224-4082.

Our Annual Dinner and Silent Auction Committee will be forming soon. We need volunteers to help with dinner arrangements, reservations, decorations, soliciting silent auction items and all the other tasks that make this our very special annual event. If you would like to join the committee, please call Martha Phillips at 619-523-3787.

Our Membership Committee is currently looking for volunteers to help with membership development. We want to increase our membership in order to increase our income from dues and to add to the number of our active members and volunteers. We can use your help on this team if you enjoy talking to friends, neighbors and business associates about the value you find in belonging to Point Loma’s original community organization. The Committee will also explore new ways to reach out to potential members. For more information, please call Tracy Morgan Hollingworth at 619-225-8156.

Check back for upcoming volunteer opportunities such as the PLA Water Station for the America's Finest City Half-Marathon in August and our Point Loma Cultural Faire Booth in the Fall. For this year's AFC Half-Marathon Water Station, simply call Melanie Nickel for the date and then show up at the corner of Dupont and Albion at 7 am.

If you would like to discuss other ways you might help, please call Patti Adams at 619-887-9313.
