The Nimitz Boulevard Median Enhancement Project
The Point Loma Association recently finished the first phase for our largest project ever, the Nimitz Boulevard Median Enhancement Project. The project extended from near West Point Loma Blvd. to the entrance of the Catalina on ramp. In lieu of black asphalt we now have beautiful soft cape comprised of colorful succulents admixed with accent boulders and bordered by stamped concrete.
On behalf of the PLA and the neighborhood that it represents, we extend our most sincere thank you to the County of San Diego, the City of San Diego, the Hervey Foundation and the many generous private Point Loma donors that helped fund our project. We could not have done it without you!
We are now ready for our next Nimitz project, possibly in the area of Centraloma and Bernice. But before we get started we want to seek support and hear input from our community on a grand Nimitz vision. What is YOUR vision for Nimitz?
Join us and your neighbors on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Family Life Center, Point Loma Presbyterian Church (2128 Chatsworth Blvd.) directly across from the Point Loma library to discuss your Nimitz Blvd. vision. More lights? Improved connections to the parks? More art? Safer bike lanes? Let your voice be heard. Join us on the 17th.
Who We Are:
Our Mission: PLA is an organization of residents and businesses
committed to improving the quality of life of Point Loma through beautification,
education, charitable activities and civic collaboration.
Point Loma Association was organized in 1961. Originally called “Point
Loma Village Beautiful,” we were primarily concerned with the aesthetics
of the Village. Click for PLA History.
Today, in addition to beautifying the Peninsula, PLA represents
the community through direct involvement with agencies of federal, state and
local governments, the Port District, the San Diego Unified School District,
the Peninsula Community Planning Board, and others who directly affect our
quality of life.
PLA Membership consists of residents and local businesses working
together. We donate time, effort and money to make the Peninsula a better place
in which to live and work. Annual Membership is $30. We appreciate donations
at additional support levels: $1,000 Platinum, $500 Gold, $250 Silver, and
